Rewrite The Rules of Anxiety

Anxiety Disorders

Let’s change your relationship with anxiety

What is Anxiety?

Anxiety is a natural emotion that helps keep us safe. It can show up as fear, worry, or feeling on edge and in some situations, it can even motivate us to prepare and perform at our best.

But when anxiety becomes constant, overwhelming, or starts to treat everyday situations as dangerous, it can feel exhausting. Your mind stays stuck in overdrive, and your body’s alarm system goes off more often than it needs to.

Anxiety becomes a problem when it begins to interfere with your life and when you start avoiding things you once enjoyed, feel stuck in overthinking, or hold back from pursuing your goals because everything feels too overwhelming.

Anxiety Symptoms

When anxiety becomes excessive, it can affect your thoughts, behaviors, and physical body.

You might experience:

  • Constant worry or overthinking
  • Feeling tense or on edge
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Irritability
  • Trouble making decisions
  • Panic attacks
  • Avoiding situations that trigger anxiety
  • Nausea or stomach issues
  • Sweating or shaking
  • Headaches or fatigue

You don’t need to experience all of these symptoms to struggle with anxiety. If you notice these happening frequently, anxiety therapy can help.

Types of Anxiety Disorders

Anxiety can show up in different ways, and it’s common to relate to more than one of these:

  • Generalized Anxiety Disorder: Ongoing worry about many areas of life. It can feel constant, hard to control, and exhausting even when you know the worry feels “too much.”
  • Social Anxiety Disorder: Fear of being judged, embarrassed, or rejected in social situations. This can make it hard to form relationships or attend social events.
  • Agoraphobia: is feeling an intense fear of being in a situation where you feel trapped. This could look like being afraid to leave your home, having to stand in line, having to use the public restroom or transportation, etc. Some may avoid their triggers at all costs and remain at home.
  • Panic Disorder: Recurrent panic attacks and fear of having another one. These can feel sudden, intense, and physically overwhelming.
  • Phobias: Intense fear of a specific object or situation (such as flying, driving, insects, or public speaking), often leading to avoidance.

If you’re reading this and thinking, “I relate to more than one of these”, you’re not alone. Many people experience overlapping forms of anxiety, and treatment can address all of them together.
