Frequently Asked Questions About Therapy

What actually happens in therapy sessions?

Think of therapy as a structured conversation with a clear purpose. In our first few sessions, we'll talk about what's bringing you in and what you'd like to change. From there, each 50-minute session combines checking in on your progress, learning specific tools to manage anxiety or OCD, and planning your next steps. Unlike talking to a friend, we use proven techniques to create real change.

What if I don't know what to say?

That's completely okay – it's my job to guide the conversation and ask helpful questions. Many clients start with "I'm not sure where to begin," and we always find our way. I'll help you identify what's most important to discuss.

What type of therapy do you provide?

I focus on providing evidence-based treatments for anxiety-related disorders, OCD, and body-focused repetitive behaviors, using like Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Comprehensive Behavioral Treatment (ComB), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

What does treatment actually look like?

Treatment is structured and goal-oriented. For anxiety, we'll develop specific tools to manage worry and panic. For OCD, we use ERP to systematically address intrusive thoughts and reduce compulsions. Each session builds on the last, with clear action steps between meetings.

What's your therapy style?

I'm warm but direct, combining genuine care with structured treatment. Expect honest feedback, practical tools, and a collaborative approach. I won't just nod and listen – we'll actively work together to create change. While I take our work seriously, there's also room for humor and lightness when appropriate.

Do you offer sessions in Spanish?

Yes, I'm fully bilingual and provide therapy in both Spanish and English. We can switch between languages as needed during sessions.

What are your fees and do you take insurance?

Sessions are $185 for 50 minutes. I'm in-network with Aetna and Optum, and can provide superbills for other insurance providers. Free 15-minute consultations are available to discuss if we're a good fit.

Where are you located?

I offer virtual sessions throughout California. Online sessions use a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform that's easy to access from your phone or computer.

How do I know if you're the right therapist for me?

The best way to find out is through a free 15-minute consultation. This brief call helps us discuss your needs, my approach, and determine if we're a good match. You can ask questions and get a sense of how I work before committing to therapy.
