Therapy for Trauma and PTSD

Living through a traumatic incident can be difficult and confusing. Trauma can impact various areas in your life and it’s common to feel like you don’t recognize yourself anymore. Some symptoms can include nightmares, intrusive thoughts, mood swings, flashbacks, avoidance, and negative beliefs.

 

Treatments:

  • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT): helps to identify beliefs that developed as a result from the trauma. During treatment, you will learn how to analyze and modify your thoughts. 
  • Prolonged Exposure Therapy: helps you to confront your trauma by talking about it in a safe and gradual manner. In addition, you will work on reducing your anxiety and fears towards your specific triggers.
  • Eye Movement and Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR): helps to process your trauma in a gentle way through bilateral stimulation. EMDR helps to reduce the intensity and vividness of traumatic memories.
